The Winter Race Ladder!

Staying on focus through the Winter

My coach and I accidentally stumbled upon a fun idea for staying motivated and on focus with training and nutrition through the tough months of winter.  Inhospitable weather and the double whammy of Thanksgiving and Christmas wreak havoc with my efforts to maintain a healthy routine.  To make matters worse, the winter blues started in October this year.  It helped to get a race on the calendar in February with the Hot Chocolate 15k but when I got a message that I have a guaranteed entry to the New York City Half Marathon on March 18, I joked that we should add a 10k in January and a 5k in February.  Never joke with a coach.  Because this is how the winter race ladder was born (as you can see on the events calendar).  From December through March, I'l do a 5k, 10k, 15k and 21.1k.  The focus on training and nutrition will (hopefully) ensue.
